Training and Education (TAE) Training Package Updates: Everything You Need to Know

TAE Package Updates

ASQA has granted an extended transition period for all registered RTOs for the following TAE qualifications:

This extended period for training, assessment, and issuance of certification for these qualifications will end on December 9, 2024. This allows RTOs and trainers to update their skills and knowledge in line with the new TAE Training Package Version 5.

The TAE Training Package update includes the introduction of a new qualification, TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which supersedes and is equivalent to the previous TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

The TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training and the TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development are superseded and are not considered equivalent to the TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training.

What RTOs Should Do

With the extended transition period for the TAE training package, it is important for RTOs to update their training materials and acquire the newest version. To ensure that students have access to the most current resources, RTOs must:

  • Include the updated version in their scope of registration
  • Keep track of the transition deadline and ensure that all learners are transitioned to the new version within the specified time frame.
  • Make sure that students enrolled in deleted products complete their studies within one year after the units and skill sets were removed, and two years for deleted qualifications.
  • Apply to add new, non-equivalent qualifications and units of competency to their scope.
